Dr. Misbah Rashid holds PhD in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. Her PhD thesis is on "Women in Islam: Analysing select Fatwas of Deoband School since 1987". During her PhD she has explored questions on Gender in Islamic Jurisprudence, interpretation of Muslim Personal Law by Dar ul-Uloom Deoband, All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Muslim women organisations, fatwa as a hermenuetic exercise, etc. During her MPhil she's worked on Blasphemy in Islam, Fatwas on Blasphemy, the two Islamic schools of thought in India: Deoband and Barelvi, etc. Her MPhil dissertation was "Blasphemy Fatwas: A comparative Study of Deobandi and Barelvi School". Dr. Rashid has previously taught at Chandigarh University, Chandigarh, India; and was a Senior Researcher at Center for Equity Research, New Delhi, India. She's an Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Doctoral Fellow (2017-2019). She speaks fluent English, Hindi, Kashmiri and Urdu.
