Blended-Learning-1

A New Learning Approach

At GITAM (Deemed to be University), we aim to create a transformative learning experience by harnessing technology and this has been made possible with Blended Learning approach. This novel method of imparting knowledge integrates the traditional offline and online learning techniques to break through the conventions and improve the learning processes. By putting Blended Learning in practice, we are creating a compelling, and personalised environment with a focus on the "no student left behind" ideology.

Blended-Learning-Model

Pedagogy

To facilitate the adoption of the Blended Learning mindset at GITAM, we have curated and adopted best practices for both faculty and students. To achieve the same, we have teamed up with some of the reputed and reliable education platforms including Coursera and Harappa Education to train and explore new methods of classroom engagement in a hybrid model.

Collaborating With Coursera

At GITAM, we aim to provide students with the right resources to drive their success and help them meet their goals. To do so, we have partnered with Coursera, a leader in the Massive Open Online Programme. The platform offers blended learning resources and is helping in instating a culture of innovation and learning among students.

Here is how Coursera is helping GITAMites

  • Free access to 4500+ programmes to supplement classroom learning
  • Opportunity to partner with other leading institutes across the globe
  • Explore new domains of learning like photography, music, literature, and more.

Digital Tools

Our technology partners provide learners with the flexibility to learn anytime, from anywhere. GITAM has adopted four core technologies to facilitate a personalised learning experience with innovative content through simulations, v-labs, and videos.

Zoom

The video communications tool facilitates synchronous class sessions, in which everyone logs in to a web conferencing system at a pre-scheduled time. It's available to all staff and faculty.

Coursera

An education platform, that partners with top global institutes to offer programmes online for free. GITAM has access to the vast repository of Coursera programmes under their “Coursera for Campus” programme.

Turnitin

Turnitin solutions have been adopted across GITAM campuses to promote academic integrity, streamline grading and feedback, deter plagiarism, and improve student outcomes.

Moodle

GITAM has adopted this open-source LMS to provide faculty with features, such as dynamic quizzes, interactive content, and more, to enable pedagogical innovation.

Faculty-Training

Faculty Training

At GITAM, we are fostering interactive learning for our faculty members by conducting training sessions through Harappa Education. This has played a key role in expanding the capability of learning methodologies, like Jigsaw and Flipped classroom.

At GITAM, we always ensure that our faculty is never out of touch. Hence, we are constantly revamping our methods to integrate a proactive approach and remove the barriers to teaching or learning.

Universities are now adopting technologies like never before. I believe that the blended learning approach will transform the way we've been delivering knowledge by democratising access to learning.

We look forward to providing classroom materials to students in a way they can access them easily from anywhere, anytime.

Prof. C Vijay Shekar

Dean of Engineering

At GITAM, we have been trying to leverage the idea of blended learning for a while now. I believe that it isn’t just the combination of offline and online teaching, but also delivery and assessment.

While the traditional system did not offer flexibility to students, blended learning thrives in it. This methodology provides us with the liberty to impart our knowledge better.

The transition to this teaching style has been an uphill ride. With its myriad benefits, our faculty and students have made steady progress in adapting it.

My idea of blended learning goes beyond the traditional assessment through pen and paper methodologies. It acts as a catalyst to impart knowledge and skills through our programmes. This has created a pathway for inter-disciplinary and human-centered learning. The pedagogical approaches that we have incorporated are opening up horizons in the teaching and learning experience. This mechanism aims at creating a high-impact learning environment that is suitable for students across all spectrums.
