Safety & Security at GITAM
Campus Security is the key today, and campuses need to have the necessary security in place to proactively prevent any untoward incidents from occurring, as well as give everyone a sense of security with security systems in place, GITAM (Deemed to be University) is geared up to prevent all kinds of violence on campus and render support to all students, faculties and employees. Part of the Security transformation is beefing up the existing CCTV surveillance across all Campus public places. To date, we have about 690, 174 & 610 digital cameras across Vizag, Hyderabad and Bangalore, respectively, closely watching the activities within the University. In addition, 1168 analogue cameras are available at Hyderabad Campus.
Safe Environment
Providing students with a safe environment is a key component in the overall success of our University. The safety of students on campus has become a high priority for the management.
- Having 24/7 Campus Security Staff and security protocols in place, such as the use of ID for entry/exit, can help to keep unauthorized people off the campus.
- Hostel Dining Committee The function of the Dining shall be supervised and carried out by the Hostel Dining Committee consisting of Students’ Representatives. The dining committee shall be responsible for ensuring smooth & timely operation of the dining and also verify the quality of food being served in the dining. The dining committee shall ensure that the proposed menu is strictly followed and any exception has to be approved by the Executive Chef.
- Using access control systems for students. Biometrics in the Residents hostels for attendance and proper procedures in place for students to permit outside the Campus by Team Student Life is helping the Security teams in ensuring safety to students.
- Having an effective fire detection and alarm systems in place. Regular Conduct of mock drills and educating all stake holders is in place.
Security Planning
GITAM (Deemed to be University) existing Security planning is under transformation with automated systems to avoid all human errors and offer a much reliable form of security around the campus.
- University has good campus security system in place and parents do trust the institute which will automatically help in building the University.
- Protecting the students is a top priority for university along with providing a great quality of education
Preventing Violence & Crime
GITAM (Deemed to be University) does not tolerate violence and crime from its community at any circumstances. We have strict measure in place to avoid it at all costs.
- The university has strict preventive and tackling measures against crimes such as theft, vandalism, trespassing, graffiti, malicious damage, arson, protests, loitering, drug dealing, sexual harassment, terrorism, possession of offensive weapons, and threats from former students.
- Security personnel make frequent rounds within the campus and the periphery to prevent all sorts of untoward incidents. Night rounds and optimum use of technology is in place to ensure the safety of all within the Campus.
