Department of Fine and Performing Arts

There is an artist in every human, and the department of Fine and Performing Arts is impelled to awaken the artistic quotient in every student. The department has a core strength of faculty with specializations in diverse fields of dance, music, theatre and visual arts, driven to offer unique programmes in arts education that will inspire students to discover and articulate their creative potential. The programmes are designed to give students proficiency in the technique of the artform they choose while also making them rethink traditional boundaries and conventions of art and engage with their artforms in novel contexts. At the end of the programme, the students will be enriched with a range of competencies in the arts, entrepreneurship, the digital platform and allied areas attuned with the industry.

The luxury of space and infrastructure in campus facilitate the creation of the right environment for the teaching and learning of the arts. The minor programmes and the electives in the arts being offered give students a range of options in terms of the duration and depth with which they want to engage with an artform. The courses offer training that is expansive and meticulous and leads to the analysis of major artworks and the creation of original works under the mentorship of the faculty. The department’s interactions with top artists and industry experts keep the training and curriculum on the vanguard of arts education. The department also organises seminars, workshops, and performances with in-house and invited artists under the monthly Art Active series to enable the institute’s students and faculty to experience and discuss art.
