Message from the President

GITAM is in the fruitful fourth decade of its service to higher education. Consistently recording excellent performance, GITAM has become a diverse and dynamic undergraduate, postgraduate, and research institution, bringing the Visakhapatnam region to the forefront of higher education. Our innovative, collaborative, and multidisciplinary approach has helped us achieve an unrivalled position among the nation's universities. Driven by the obsession to set a benchmark in higher education, GITAM has been steadily updating its programs while upgrading its infrastructure.

It is gratifying to see that GITAM's trifocal vision - teaching, research, and consultancy - yield promising results. About President

Sribharat Mathukumilli is the President of GITAM (Deemed to be University), established in 1980 in Visakhapatnam. Currently, GITAM encompasses four campuses, 21 schools, and a student body of over 25,000 students.

As the founder of the Kautilya School of Public Policy in Hyderabad, Sri Bharat Mathukumilli has created a premier institution that follows the model of Ivy League Public Policy schools, nurturing future public leaders in India.

In the 2019 general elections, he contested from the Vizag (Visakhapatnam) Lok Sabha constituency on behalf of the TDP (Telugu Desam Party) and narrowly lost. Nonetheless, he remains actively involved in public life and currently serves as the Visakhapatnam parliament in charge for the TDP in Andhra Pradesh. In this role, he ensures that the interests of Visakhapatnam's citizens receive strong representation in Parliament.

Sri Bharat Mathukumilli holds an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Class of 2010. He also obtained a joint MBA/MA Education degree from Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, USA, Class of 2016.

He holds various positions in organisations in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He serves as a board trustee at the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute in Hyderabad. Additionally, he is a TiE Andhra Pradesh board member, serving as the Board Retreat Chair and former chapter president of Entrepreneurs' Organization Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, he is an investor and advisor to a select group of promising startups.

Before his involvement with GITAM, Sribharat Mathukumilli established a 3.5MW solar power plant and led his family business's entry into solar power generation upon his return to India from Stanford in 2016. He also worked on establishing a hydro-energy power plant in Odisha.
