GITAM’s commitment to positively impact the fields we operate in is the driving force behind all our research initiatives. Our current Research & Innovation strategy has thus identified four broad thematics under which our research activities will be conducted. Each of these thematics correspond to one or more Sustainable Development Goals listed by the UN.

“Under this theme, we aim to contribute to the domains of Food Technology, Responsible Nutrition, Lifestyle & Diet, Phytochemistry, Nutraceuticals, Cancer Research, Stem cell banks, Medical Devices, Pharmacy, Medical Sciences, Public Policy and Health Management. The research activities will work towards meeting SDG goals 1,2 and 3 which aims to eradicate poverty, hunger and sustain good health.

“The research under this theme will contribute to the domains of Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Smart Cities, Public Policy, Management Studies. The SDGs that will be met under this thematic are SDGs 6,12 & 13 that aim to provide Clean Water, Responsible Consumption & Production and Climate Action.

Resilient Communities

“Through research under this theme, we aim to impact the domains of Smart Societies, Stress-free Societies, Smart Transportation & Housing, Sustainable Designs, Resilient & Accessible Public Health Systems, Disaster Predictions and Preparedness, Data Science, Sustainable Economic & Public Policy, Governance, leadership & Community Networks. UN’s SDGs 5,11,16 and 17 will be met under this theme. These SDGs aim to solve for Gender Equality and build Sustainable Cities & Communities, Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions and Partnership for Goals.

Emerging Technologies

Emerging Technologies

“The research and innovation under the theme of Emerging technologies, in addition to supporting the above three thematics will also contribute to the domains of Genomics, Microbiomics, System Biology, Bioinformatics & Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Optics, Spectroscopy, AR/VR, Autonomous Systems, Smart Technology. The SDGs 7 & 9 that pertain to affordable and clean energy and providing industry, innovation and infrastructre will be impacted through this Thematic domain.
