GIMSR Hospital that was started in 2014 spread its wings into a medical college with the first batch of its UG students joining in the year 2015. Currently, the institution has 600 undergraduate students and started PG Programmes in the Academic year 2021-22 in 12 clinical and 2 para-Clinical disciplinaries.

GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, popularly known as GIMSR, was established in the year 2015. It is the first deemed medical college in the private sector in Andhra Pradesh, established beside the picturesque GITAM (Deemed to be University) in Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam, with all modern amenities conducive to student learning. Today, GIMSR is a name synonymous with quality medical education which attracts people not only from Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring Telangana but also from other states across India.

Culture

The city of Visakhapatnam has been in existence since 1068 AD, and the city bears testament to this in its culture and landmarks as ancient temples stand alongside modern buildings. It’s vibrant culture is experienced through the many festivals and fairs that take place all year round.

The cuisine of Visakhapatnam is an amalgamation of North Indian and South Indian flavours, and is generally known to be spicy. ‘Murri Mixture’ is one of the city’s most iconic dishes. Vizag is also known for its yummy chutneys and pickles.
