Born and raised in Kolkata, Mitra did his PhD from IACS & post-docs from institutes incl. the Weizmann Institute-IL, NTU-SG and IISc-BLR. His experimental research journey included studying transport, magnetic and light-matter interactions in low-dimensional quantum materials. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Physics at GITAM-BLR, and a selected Faculty Fellow at MURTI. He tries to understand quantum matters' behavior and fabricate devices that matters for quantum technology.
