GITAM Scholarships 2025–26

This policy applies to undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered at GITAM Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru campuses for the academic year 2025–26. It excludes programs under the Kautilya School of Public Policy (KSPP), MBBS, Dental, CDL, and PhD.

GITAM Scholarships 2025–26

Structured support for students with demonstrated merit and financial need

 

This policy applies to undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered at GITAM Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru campuses for the academic year 2025–26. It excludes programs under the Kautilya School of Public Policy (KSPP), MBBS, Dental, CDL, and PhD.

 

1. Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are awarded based on entrance exam performance.
 Scholarship slabs: 100%, 75%, 60%, 40%, 25%, 15% of tuition fees.

Accepted entrance exams include: GAT, GBAT, JEE Main, EAPCET, CUET, SAT, CAT, MAT, NMAT, CMAT.

Applicants offered 60% or higher must attend a personal interview. Evaluation criteria include academic consistency, communication, program fit, and extracurriculars.

Post-interview adjustment:

  • Score ≥ 8.0 → upgraded by one slab
  • Score 6.0–7.9 → original slab retained
  • Score < 6.0 → slab reduced by one level (not below 40%)
     

Renewal requirements:

  • CGPA ≥ 8.0 → scholarship continues
  • CGPA 7.5–7.99 → slab downgraded by one level
  • CGPA < 7.5 → scholarship discontinued
     

Scholarships are not available to students with backlogs, failures, or CGPA improvements via betterment.

2. Need-Based Scholarships

Need-based scholarships offer additional tuition fee support to students already receiving a merit scholarship between 15% and 75%.

Eligibility thresholds:

  • Tier A (program fee ≥ ₹2 lakh/year): family income < ₹12 lakh/year
  • Tier B (program fee < ₹2 lakh/year): family income < ₹8 lakh/year

Documents required: Both parents’/guardians’ Form-16 or ITR
Submission deadline: 31 August 2025

Eligible slab upgrades:

  • 75% → 100%
  • 60% → 75%
  • 40% → 60%
  • 25% → 40%
  • 15% → 25%
     

Need-based benefits are reviewed annually. Continuation depends on income proof and CGPA eligibility.

3. Hostel Scholarships

Merit scholarship recipients are also eligible for hostel fee scholarships, which cover both non-AC accommodation and food.

Scholarship breakdown by tuition slab:

  • 100% tuition → 100% hostel
  • 75% tuition → 75% hostel
  • 60%, 40%, 25%, 15% tuition → 20% hostel
     

Renewal conditions:

  • CGPA ≥ 8.0 → original hostel slab continues
  • CGPA 7.5–7.99 →
     
    • 100%/75% → revised to 20% hostel scholarship
    • 60%/40%/25%/15% → revised to 10%
       
  • CGPA < 7.5 → hostel scholarship discontinued

Hostel scholarship applies only to standard non-AC rooms and food. Premium services are not included.

 

4. Employee Children Scholarships

Children of full-time GITAM employees with at least one year of continuous permanent service are eligible.

  • Maximum scholarship: 60% (if not already receiving 75% or 100% merit)
  • Total combined scholarship across categories is capped at 75%
  • Renewal: CGPA ≥ 7.5
     
 

5. Loyalty Scholarships

A flat 10% tuition scholarship is awarded for any one of the following:

  • Alumni returning for higher education
  • Children of alumni
  • Real or step-siblings of current GITAM students
  • Spouse of a GITAM employee
  • Children of retired employees
     

Only one category applies per student.
 Not applicable for students with 75% or 100% merit scholarships.
 Renewal: CGPA ≥ 7.5

 

6. Sports Scholarships

For student-athletes with recognized achievements in zonal, state, national, or international events within the last 3 years.

Scholarship slabs:

  • Tuition fee: 15%, 25%, 40%, 60%, 75%, 100%
  • Hostel fee: 50% or 100%
     

Selection process:

  • Application with proof of achievement
  • Sports trial (fitness, skills, game performance)
  • Personal interview
  • Academic record review
     

Renewal requirements:

  • CGPA ≥ 6.0
  • Active participation in university-level sports
  • No disciplinary action

Scholarship slabs may be adjusted annually based on performance.

 

7. Combined Scholarship Cap

The maximum total scholarship a student can receive across all categories is 75%, except:

  • Full 100% merit scholarships
  • Full 100% sports scholarships
     

Priority order for calculating combined scholarships:

  • Merit and Need-Based
  • Employee
  • Loyalty
  • Sports
     

Combinations are fixed at the time of admission and cannot be changed later.

 

8. Program Transfers within Liberal Education

Students transferring between BBA, B.Com, and B.Sc. (Liberal Education) retain their scholarship if:

  • CGPA ≥ 8.0 → slab retained
  • CGPA < 8.0 → slab downgraded by one level
     

Students must pay the revised tuition applicable to the new program.

Students who exhibit exceptional performance in academics or sports receive Merit Scholarships. Students with consistently high scores or outstanding track records can apply for and qualify for financial aid from GITAM, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

In addition to providing state-of-the-art sporting facilities, GITAM (Deemed to be University) also extends Sports Scholarships to athletes who excel in 
their chosen sports.

Student Scholarship Framework

At GITAM, we have established a Unified Student Scholarship Framework to ensure that deserving candidates receive the necessary financial assistance. The framework is approved under the following conditions:

  • Admissions through scholarships will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Limitation on Scholarships.
  • Admissions through scholarships will be considered up to 20% of the sanctioned intake for CSE and its specialisations and 30% for other programmes.
  • Once the earmarked limit is exhausted, the students will not be entitled to scholarships. Exceptions will be made at the discretion of the management.
  • For scholarships offered through various national or state entrance tests, the students are encouraged to apply for GAT/GBAT and attend admission counselling.
  • In case a student is eligible for a scholarship under more than one category, they will be awarded the highest percentage of the scholarship.
  • The scholarship offered through GBAT, GAT, or national or state entrance tests only applies for the first year and will be continued subject to the student scoring a CGPA of 8.0 or above.
  • The children of GITAM employees admitted in full-time courses can avail 60%, 40%, 25%, and 15% of scholarships, not exceeding a combined scholarship of 75%.
  • The students are eligible for loyalty scholarships like alumni returning to higher education, alumni children, sibling scholarships, retired employee children scholarships, and spouses of GITAM employees.

How can I apply for the scholarship?

Students can apply for the scholarship in the admission portal during the counselling process based on the GAT 2024 or any national or state-level entrance test results.

How do I check if I am eligible for the college scholarship?

Students can check if they qualify in below mentioned scholarships:

  1. Merit based Scholarship - Can be achieved if a candidate qualifies in GAT 2024 entrance test or any National/ State level entrance test result.
  2. Need based scholarship - To be eligible for the need-based scholarship, the combined income of both parents/guardians of the eligible student/If the student is married, the combined income of the family, i.e., the student's and spouse's income, must be as given below :
    1. Tier A: Less than 12.00 LPA
    2. Tier B: Less than 08.00 LPA

    (Classification of Tier A Tier B is referred in below point)
    The courses offered across campuses will be divided into two tiers,

    1. Tier A: Tuition Fee >= 2.00 LPA
    2. Tier B: Tuition Fee < 2.00 LPA
  3. Sports scholarship - participation in any sports at National/International level the candidate can mail his/her achievements to Sports_scholarships@gitam.edu to check the eligibility.
  4. Loyalty Scholarship: The students admitted are further eligible for loyalty scholarships like alumni returning to higher education, alumni children, sibling scholarship, retired employee children scholarship, and spouse of GITAM employee.

Individual sports are not listed above can, students may write mentioning the relevant achievements along with the certificates to sports_scholarships@gitam.edu.

What expenses are covered under the student scholarship?

Only the tuition fees of the respective programme selected by the student.

When is the last date to apply for a student scholarship?

Once the student receives communication from the University regarding his/her scholarship eligibility, candidates need to pay and complete the admission within 7 days to avail the scholarship. Any delays will result in the cancellation of the scholarship, and it will be passed on to the next eligible candidate in the queue, as scholarships are offered on a "first-come-first-served" basis.

Which documents am I required to submit while applying for a student scholarship?

Candidates need to provide the best score from the National/State level entrance test taken in 2024 or GAT 2024. The result copy can be uploaded in the application portal during the counseling period.

Does the financial aid extend beyond the first year at GITAM?

The same financial aid/scholarship will be continued in the subsequent academic years if the student maintains a CGPA of 8.0 and above each year.
