We align with our institution mission and our vision is To be a leading pharmacology department recognized for its innovative teaching, groundbreaking research, and significant contributions to patient care.
At the heart of modern medicine lies pharmacology – the study of how drugs interact with biological systems. Our department is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and cutting-edge understanding of drugs, equipping with the essential knowledge to prescribe and utilize medications safely and effectively in future medical practice.
We foster a dynamic learning environment that combines rigorous scientific principles with clinical relevance, ensuring to develop a strong foundation in the mechanisms of drug action, therapeutic applications, and potential adverse effects.
We engage students in curriculum through integrated learning, case based learning, small group discussions, clinical correlations and guest lectures.
To support learning and research, we offer a comprehensive environment that includes demonstration rooms, a resourceful Museum with essential medicines, crude drugs, and ADR charts, a departmental library with textbooks and journals, and well-equipped labs. These labs feature MyCalpharm computer assisted learning software for simulated animal experiments, clinical skills labs with mannequins, and a research lab designed to facilitate MD Pharmacology studies. The department's core mission is to cultivate a strong foundation in pharmacological and therapeutic principles, enabling the rational use of drugs. Patient safety is also our priority, and we actively engage in pharmacovigilance through our dedicated Adverse drug reaction monitoring cell (PvPI) and contribute to the institution's pharmacotherapeutic committee to optimize medication use. Collaborative research is encouraged among faculty and students.
The Department of Pharmacology is dedicated to educating undergraduate students across various healthcare disciplines, including MBBS, dental, nursing, paramedical, physiotherapy, and B. Pharmacy programs. Furthermore, the department extends its expertise to postgraduate students pursuing MDS and M. Pharmacy degrees, shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals with a strong foundation in pharmacological principles.
