
The Department of Forensic Medicine at GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) plays a vital role in bridging the gap between medicine and law. It focusess on the application of medical knowledge to aid in the administration of justice. The department is involved in teaching undergraduate medical students the principles of forensic medicine, toxicology, and medical jurisprudence. Equipped with modern facilities and experienced faculty, the department also contributes research, fostering a deeper understanding of the legal aspects of medical practice. The department not only imparts knowledge but also encourages students to develop critical thinking, ethical values, and practical skills that strengthen their academic performance.
Undergraduate medical students & paramedical students: Comprehensive teaching in Medical Law and Ethics, ensuring they understand the medico-legal responsibilities of their profession.
B.Sc. Nursing students: Specialized sessions on the forensic aspects of managing sexually abused females, preparing them with sensitivity, empathy, and professional expertise.
Beyond classroom learning, the department actively motivates students to participate in interactive discussions, case-based learning, research projects, and skill-development sessions, helping them achieve both academic growth and professional confidence.
