Medical Education Unit (MEU)

The Medical Education Unit (MEU) of GIMSR is dedicated to enhancing the quality of medical teaching and learning. It provides training and support to faculty members through training sessions such as the Basic Course in Medical Education Technologies (BCME) and other in-house faculty development programs. The MEU plays a vital role in building the teaching and assessment competencies of faculty and also promotes research in the field of medical education.

Curriculum Committee (CC)

The Curriculum Committee is responsible for the effective implementation and monitoring of the MBBS curriculum. It organizes programs like the Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP) and oversees academic scheduling, including the development of time tables. Phase-wise curriculum sub- committees function along with the Curriculum Committee to plan and coordinate the academic activities for each phase of the MBBS program.

Simulation Based Medical Education (SBME) Unit

The SBME Unit enhances clinical training through immersive simulations using high-fidelity manikins, task trainers and standardized patients. It provides a safe environment to practice essential skills, bridging theory with real-life scenarios and promoting critical thinking, teamwork, and patient safety.

    •    Conducts ≥15 accredited programs annually.
    •    Offers BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Heartsaver®️ courses using evidence-based guidelines and simulation.

Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Center

    •    Accredited as the 37th ATLS Center in India.
    •    Conducts ≥3 programs annually.
    •    Trains doctors in systematic trauma care during the golden hour, covering airway, shock, chest/abdominal trauma, and rapid decision-making.
    •    Led by international certified instructors with interactive lectures, skill stations, and simulations.

 

Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Center

GIMSR’s CPR Programme – “To Save a Life, is to be a Hero”

    •    Flagship initiative to train students, staff, healthcare workers, and community members.
    •    Focus on high-quality compressions, airway management, AED use.
    •    Conducts ≥50 CPR programs annually, training 1000+ people in the past year.
    •    Extends CPR education to schools, colleges, workplaces, and public gatherings, building a community of lifesavers.

Simulation-Based Procedure Trainers

Adult Trainers
    •    Basic: CPR, airway, IV/IM, cannulation, catheterization.
    •    Advanced: Intubation, mechanical ventilation, central/arterial lines, chest tubes, trauma resuscitation, ACLS.
    •    Surgical: Suturing, wound care, laparoscopic and minor surgical skills.

Pediatric Trainers
    •    Resuscitation & Emergencies: Neonatal CPR, airway, vascular access, trauma, shock.
    •    Clinical: IV/IO access, catheterization, pediatric procedures.

Obstetrics & Gynecology Trainers
    •    Deliveries: Vaginal, cesarean, complicated cases.
    •    Obstetric Emergencies: PPH, shoulder dystocia, breech.
    •    Gynecological: Pelvic exams, IUD insertion, surgical skills.

By integrating adult, pediatric, and OB/GYN trainers, the SBME Unit provides a progressive, hands-on learning experience. Our students develop technical expertise, clinical judgment, teamwork, and crisis management skills, ensuring high-quality patient care across all specialties.
