About the Department

Department of Physiology in GITAM institute of Medical Sciences and Research is established in the year 2014-2015 is guided by the team of dedicated faculty members with excellent teaching resources. The sessions are run by a blend of theoretical and practical training with instructions of practical knowledge. Symposia, Seminars and Journal clubs are being continuously conducted to provide a platform for exchange of newer thoughts. Vertical and Horizontal methodology of teaching along with Early clinical exposure can trigger a deeper thought and critical thinking in students of pre-clinical phase.

Curriculum:

The Undergraduate students are given a sound foundation in the basics of Physiology with Curriculum run by Competency based Medical Education which include lectures, small group discussions, Vertical / Horizontal integrations backed up with practical sessions. Also, students are made to expose to the Hospital environment in pre-clinical phase to nurture the attitudes, ethics, communication and to learn the basic clinical skills.

Infrastructure:

Department of Physiology in GIMSR is equipped with spacious laboratories and best infrastructure to encourage the students and faculty to perform the clinical and animal experiments. Further, a dedicated space is provided for the research activities on Human subjects such as EEG, ECG, Spirometry, Nerve conduction studies etc.
