The vision for the Centre for Business Growth is to demonstrate research excellence by addressing strategically important questions in the field of business and management that have economic, social and/or environmental impact, through research activities, knowledge exchange and/or collaborations with industry.

What are the opportunities and challenges for business growth in emerging economies, and how should businesses respond?
CBG addresses this question in collaboration with key agencies in local, regional, national, and developing economy settings, including businesses, labour, government, and civil societies. The centre will lay the foundation in creating two key areas of focus, namely: Sustainability for societal impact, Innovation research for business practice.

CBG focusses on working in alignment with major Government and International initiatives such as the UN SDGs, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swachch Bharat, National Education Policy and Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED). The centre aims to attract some of the most talented research-active academics from across several disciplines (from different parts of the world) combined with the University’s strategic investment plan to recruit a significant number of researchers and doctoral researchers to carry out new and innovative business and management research. CBG will work collaboratively with academic colleagues, communities, businesses, and policy-makers to produce world-class research to help achieve the University’s vision of research excellence that will shape businesses in emerging economies for the 21st century.

Venture Development Centre (VDC) at GITAM (Deemed to be University), is the epicentre of entrepreneurship and innovation. Over the past years, VDC has undergone significant transformations and achieved remarkable successes, establishing itself as a cornerstone of entrepreneurial growth and development.

GITAM has collaborated with Northeastern University's Centre for Entrepreneurship Education to foster the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem at GITAM through its flagship program, NUIDEA.
Through a strategic merger with the GITAM School of Business, VDC has enhanced its integration with academic departments, creating a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.
We have empowered over 22,200+ students with essential entrepreneurial skills and knowledge.
Our extensive portfolio includes over 280+ initiatives focused on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Rights.
We have trained 150+ faculty members in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, enhancing their ability to mentor aspiring entrepreneurs.
With over 230 active venture teams across GITAM’s three campuses, involving more than 690 students, our pre-incubation programme has proven successful. These teams have participated in over 50 national and international competitions, achieving 27 victories. Our innovators have represented GITAM and India on various national and international platforms, achieving significant recognition and accolades.
VDC innovators has secured grants totalling INR 40 lakhs from prestigious organizations such as the Ministry of Education, IIT-Hyderabad, TiE, and DST to support the prototyping and venture development process. Additionally, two of our ventures have received Letters of Intent for investments amounting to another INR 40 lakhs.
We have achieved a 4 Star rating from the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) for the last two years, reflecting our sustained commitment to excellence. GITAM has now been appointed as a mentor institute, and VDC guides five regional higher education institutions. This is supported by a grant of INR 2.25 lakhs from the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell and AICTE.
VDC organises SmartIDEAthon every year, which is one of the biggest university-level Ideathons in India, in partnership with Startup India, Invest India, Northeastern University Centre for Entrepreneurship Education, and Northeastern University Centre for Emerging Markets. These events received over 1100 applications on average every year, showcasing the VDC’s pivotal role in nurturing entrepreneurial talent. The winners of SmartIDEAthon were sent for a fully funded two-week immersion program in Boston, USA.

AIKYA is a student-led HR and Communications Club that focuses on strengthening communication and HR skills. It provides opportunities to learn about the latest trends and practices in the HR profession through workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and networking activities. It also hosts personal growth and professional development events and activities such as resume writing seminars, mock interviews, and public speaking events. The primary objective of the club is to create a forum for students to improve and demonstrate their skills to potential employers.
“FINLORDS- Finance club” is the brainchild of GITAM School of Business with an objective of inculcating learning among students. Finance is an important aspect at both micro and macro level and we as a club our motive is to promote interest among students regarding financial aspects and impart knowledge by creating an environment that encourages continuous learning and discovery of recent trends and developments in field of Finance. Finance Club at GITAM School of Business focuses on building skills, and knowledge of students in various financial aspects, which in turn will help them in creating career opportunities within finance field.
The International Business Student Club (IBSC) provides a forum for students to network. It develops students’ understanding of how different cultures around the globe affect business and helps students update recent trends, practices, and models in international business. The club organizes events that not only allow them to develop their overall personality but also update their knowledge in international marketing, finance, human resources, informational technology, and logistics. Further, the Club provides IB students to learn in a fun way with various opportunities like out-of-the-box thinking and practicing through role-playing, simulation games, case discussions, and group discussions.
Objectives of the IBSC Club
Culture teaches values, beliefs and traditions. It influences the social interaction with parents, siblings, peers, and teachers and language and communication. GITAM School of Business started a Sanskriti Cultural Club in 2022 under the guidance of Dean Prof. Amit Bhadra—the club aims to promote young people's rights to culture and help the students better know their interests, abilities, aptitudes and opportunities. The cultural activities enhance students' confidence levels, allowing them to perform better and assist them in a promising career. Sanskriri Club of GSB strives for the development of cultural activities like Dance, Music, Drama, Painting, Best out of Waste, Mime, Rangoli, Mehendi, Nailart, Face Painting, etc. and literary movements such as Debate, Essay writing, etc.
NSS (National Service Scheme) is a government-sponsored public service program under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This Scheme aims to enhance and develop a student's personality through community service. NSS helps the student grow individually and as a group. GITAM School of Business is Unit-VII, one among all GITAM (Deemed to be) University's 25 NSS Units. Volunteering for various tasks under NSS activities allows students to become confident, develop leadership skills, and learn about people from different walks of life. NSS Unit VII won Best NSS Unit in University in 2016 and 2022; ACCOR, the 2nd most significant group of hotels globally, recognized GSB NSS Unit VII as Society's best social service partner in Visakhapatnam City in 2017. The unit is also associated with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, Hidden Sprouts, Leben Shelfie, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, and UNICEF in various activities—70% of the students placed every year in different companies from GSB NSS Unit VII.
