Center for Gandhian Studies Center for Gandhian Studies

Centre for Gandhian Studies is a stand-alone research centre under the GITAM School of Humanities and Social Sciences, GITAM Deemed to be University. Centre for Gandhian Studies engages with interdisciplinary teaching (University Core Course- Gandhian Ethics and Morals) and research to develop alternative knowledge systems for contemporary crises. 

Scope

  • The Centre for Gandhian Studies aspires to a more just and peaceful world. 

Objectives   

  • Promote multidisciplinary research on rural development, peacebuilding, nonviolence, sustainable livelihood, and gender equality. 
  • Collaborate with other academic institutions on the core research areas of nonviolence, peace and conflict resolution, peace education, sustainable development, and environmental conservation. 
  • Introduce academic programmes in Peace Studies, Gandhian Thought, and community service. 
  • Introduce field work/community service to the Liberal Education students to equip them with social work / public administration/policy analysis skills.

  • Development Studies, Human Rights & Duties, Human Security,  and Gender Studies.
