Kashif Nesar Rather was born and brought up in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. He did his MPhil from the School of Economics, University of Hyderabad. Afterwards, he went to IIT Kharagpur for his PhD in Environmental Economics. His current research interest centres on exploring the dynamics of global energy transitions, sustainable development, and their complex socio-economic implications. Moreover, he has also been exploring the intersections of gender economics and climate change.
