GITAM’s Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA) is a three-year programme that offers comprehensive training in the field of computers and information technology. From software development to hardware systems, the programme offered at our Visakhapatnam campus covers all key aspects of computer applications, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to handle various IT-related tasks.

Led by experienced faculty, the curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in computer science while also exposing students to the latest trends and advancements in the IT sector. In addition to theoretical learning, students gain hands-on experience with widely used computer applications, preparing them for a successful tech career.

Eligibility

A minimum of 50% or 5.0 CGPA in Intermediate or 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology or Maths, Economics, Commerce or Intermediate Vocational with Computers or equivalent from a recognized Central / State Board or its equivalent and Qualified in GAT.

Scope of the Programme

In today's world, computers are essential for even the simplest tasks, making the scope of a Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA) vast and ever-expanding. The programme curriculum ensures that students receive a comprehensive education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing them for the ever-evolving demands of the IT and technology sectors.

 

Graduates with a BCA degree can explore diverse opportunities across multinational companies, government, and private sectors. Graduates are also well-equipped to launch startups focused on web design, software development, or other tech-based services, ensuring a broad range of career paths in an increasingly digital world.

Scholarships

Merit-Based Scholarships

The scholarship from GAT/National/State Entrance Tests applies only in the first year. To continue receiving it in subsequent years, a minimum CGPA of 8.0 must be maintained.

Apart from the above, the following scholarships are also offered to eligible students.

  • Employee Children Scholarships: (60%, 40%, and 20%)
  • Loyalty Scholarships: (10% for Any alumni returning to do higher studies/Children of Alumni/Real siblings (Not applicable to step siblings or cousins)/Children of retired employees of GITAM/Spouse of GITAM employees).
  • Sports Scholarships: (100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 15%)

Need-Based Scholarships

  • To be eligible for the need-based scholarship, the combined income of both parents/guardians of the eligible student/If the student is married, the combined income of the family, i.e., the student's and spouse's income, must be less than 8.00 LPA.
  • The candidates admitted through merit scholarship in the slabs of 75%, 60%, 40%, 25%,and 15%, and the parents/guardians combined income is less than the prescribed limits are eligible for the additional need-based scholarship.

Scholarships For Accommodation

  • In addition, students awarded need-based scholarships after merit scholarships will receive an additional 20% scholarship specifically allocated for hostel fees at GITAM for slabs: 15%, 25%, 40%, and 60%.
  • Students awarded 75% & 100% scholarships are also awarded the same percentage in the hostel and food charges.
