About Deepak is an anthropologist. His research is on the sociality of screenbased technologies such as smartphones and the technological interfaces that are an integral part of how we go about everyday life. His research interests include social studies of science, technology and media, the anthropology of imagination, problems of modernity, political anthropology, and the history of thought. Before joining GITAM, Deepak taught in the sociology department at Shiv Nadar University, NCR. He also has an active interest in community-based public art and technological practice. In the past, Deepak was trained as a computer science engineer and economist, and worked as a consultant for a small multinational software company based in Bangalore.
