About

Sheerin Hena is an assistant professor in the Department of English. She has submitted her Ph.D. in the field of Applied Linguistics from the University of Hyderabad. Her areas of study and research interests include psycholinguistics, semantics, sociolinguistics, gender studies, cognitive linguistics, translation studies, English language teaching, and business communication. She has translated a few poems from Urdu religious texts (Hamd and Naat) to English, which were published in a festschrift.

Prior to joining GITAM, Ms Hena worked as Soft Skills faculty in MSIT, IIIT-Hyderabad for one and half years. As part of this engagement, she mentored post-graduate students on soft skills and business communication, while handling aspects of course design, classroom teaching, and interactive workshops. During the association with MSIT, she also visited Bhutan to conduct a one-week workshop on communication skills for graduate and post-graduate students at Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology, Mongar, Bhutan. She had also tutored foreign students in her engagement with Council on International Educational Exchange as part of Study in India Program, University of Hyderabad.
