About CSI

Computer Society of India is the first and largest body of computer professionals in India. It was started on 6th March, 1965, by a few computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body representing computer professionals. It has 72 chapters across India, 511 student branches, and 100,000 members.

The Computer Society of India is a non-profit professional meet to exchange views and information learn and share ideas. The wide spectrum of members is committed to the advancement of theory and practice of Computer Engineering and Technology Systems, Science and Engineering, Information Processing and related Arts and Sciences.

CSI Student Branch: GITAM CSI Student Branch was introduced on 1st April, 2009, in order to inculcate the professional elements provided by the student branch to its students. It comprises of over 700 students currently. Under the aegis of CSI Student Branch, GITAM, several events like fests, workshops, seminars, social activities and internal training sessions through student maintained clubs are regularly held. These activities help the students in imparting the ideas and knowledge required in this fast growing IT enhanced world.


Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM), a Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, is a premier educational institution in the country imparting quality education in diverse disciplines. GITAM is located at Visakhapatnam and has two off-campuses at Hyderabad and Bengaluru. GITAM is a multi-disciplinary and multi campus university offering 144 programs at UG, PG and doctoral levels in diverse disciplines such as Engineering & Technology, Architecture, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Commerce & Management, International Business, Law, Pharmacy, Medicine and Nursing.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India (Tandon Committee), classified the University as category 'I' among the universities of its kind. The University is accredited by NAAC with “A+” Grade in 2017. Further, the UGC has accorded 12-B status to the University. The University has been accredited with ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management, ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management and ISO 27001:2013 for Information Security Management.

The CSI Andhra Pradesh Student Convention is being held at GITAM, Visakhapatnam, on 24th & 25th November, 2017. The central theme revolves around the role of digitalization in building a smart India.

    • Technical Paper Presentation
    • Theme: Role of Digital Transformation
    • Delete the stage fear option from your mind and activate the skill of presenting your idea to the crowd!
      • Rules:
      • The papers should strictly follow the IEEE double-column format.
      • Accepted papers will be intimated to the corresponding authors via e-mail.
      • The time allotted for presentation is 5 minutes and that for queries is 2 minutes.
      • Selected candidates should bring two hard copies and one soft copy of the paper at the time of presentation.
      • Candidates should send their paper in soft copy to csiconvention@gitam.edu on or before the due date for paper submission.
      • Last date of submission: 22nd November, 2017
    • Technical Poster Presentation
    • Theme: Role of Digital Transformation
    • Unleash your artistic creativity in a compact form-factor, after all, brevity is the soul of wit!
      • Rules:
      • Poster size: 48"x36"
      • All posters must be original works, but the submission may take inspiration from other sources in which case the original sources must be cited.
      • 48 to 60 font size single-spaced is recommended for headings.
      • 24 to 32 font size single-spaced is recommended for content.
      • Candidates should send their poster in soft copy to csiconvention@gitam.edu on or before the due date for poster submission.
      • Last date of submission: 22nd November, 2017
    • Keynote Addresses
    • The keynote addresses will be delivered by eminent personalities from government sector, industry and academia.
    • The Quiztal Maze
    • Knowledge is power indeed. It is also, however, something that can fetch you great prizes. Plenty of interesting stuff to rack those brains! So for all the curious minds out there, grab your chance!
      • Rules:
      • Two participants per team.
      • Any act against the spirit of the game will lead to disqualification of the team.
      • Quiz covers the basic technical knowledge in Information and Communication Technology.
      • The Competition will be conducted simultaneously among the participating teams.
      • Round 1: TEAM TIME
      • A batch 4 teams which consists of two people each are given 5 questions per team. If not answered the question is passed to the next team.
      • A single winner team from each batch is selected.
      • NOTE: In case of a tie we have a tie breaker round.
      • Round 2: HUSTLE AND BUSTLE
      • 'Hustle and Bustle' is a buzzer round between the winners of the team consisting of ten questions and the team with maximum score wins.
    • Transcending Innovations
    • The unique event will showcase the talent and imagination of the students through work models. This event will feature an exhibition of working models in the domains of smart technologies, Internet-of-things, Robotics, and other related fields. Exciting prizes will be provided to the teams demonstrating excellence in technical knowledge, social relevance and creativity.
    • Code-Savvy
    • A nail-biting and highly challenging contest on coding will be held which will comprise of concepts from C & C++ domains.
    • Code-Savvy is a programming competition which aims to test the ability to debug and optimize a solution to a problem based on different constraints.
      • RULES:
      • Plagiarism is not encouraged and if found will be disqualified.
      • Round 1: Eliminator
      • A set of 15 multiple choice questions will need to be solved.
      • Time Limit: 20 minutes
      • Round 2: Coding Round
      • Two questions need to be executed.
      • Time Limit: 30 minutes
    • Game Zone
    • Come and quench your thirst of gaming with adrenaline-packed fast paced games. We've got you covered with games ranging from FPS to Virtual Reality.
      • Rules:
      • Any act against the spirit of the game will lead to disqualification of the team.
      • Coupon is mandatory.
      • A coupon is valid only for one group game and one individual game.
      • Any damage caused to any provided appliances will be charged.
      • Decision of the student organizers shall be final and binding.
      • Group Games:
      • Participants are required to bring their own laptops.
      • Rainbow Six Siege
      • A minimum of 4 participants per team (maximum 5).
      • Counter Strike
      • A maximum of 3 participants per team.

      • A maximum of 2 members per team.

    • Workshops
    • Workshops on cutting edge technologies will be conducted on both the days. Recent advances in the domains of Cyber Security, Internet-of-Things and Virtual Reality will be discussed.

Registration fee:

Registrations have been closed.

To avail discount for CSI membership, you must show your College ID card and CSI membership card.

Registration fee includes access to events participation, keynote addresses, certificates, registration kit and lunch for both the days.

Payment modes:

The payment should be made via Paytm or cash after registrations.

Who is eligible?

The students of B.Tech., M.Tech., MCA, M.Sc. (Computer Science), BCA and B.Sc. (Computer Science).

Paper presentation format:

The presentation should strictly follow IEEE double-column format.

Accommodation and Food:
  • Accommodation will be provided for 2 days and 1 night, i.e., 24th (day and night) and 25th (day) November, 2017. The check-out time is 6 PM on 25th.
  • All students are requested to report at Registration Desk near the respective hostels (Kokila Sadan for girls & Durgabai Deshmukh Sadan for boys)
  • Rooms will be allotted at the Registration Desk.
  • Room is provided on sharing basis (a maximum of 3 members per room).
  • Participants have to take care of their belongings. The organizing team won't be responsible if anything is lost.
  • Students are solely responsible for any damage to the infrastructure in the hostel room and in case of any such incidents, decision of hostel management will be final.
  • We shall provide you with mattresses. However, you are encouraged to carry your own blankets.
  • At the time of check-out, the participants are required to return all the commodities provided to them to the organizers. Heavy penalties will be imposed by the organizing team if anything is missing. The incident would be reported to respective college authorities.
  • Littering, smoking and drinking is strictly prohibited in rooms and is a punishable offense.
  • Students should abide with the rules of the college.
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided at the campus.

Note: Students looking for accommodation before or after the provided dates will be charged extra.
