Welcome to GITAM Institute of Science

GITAM Institute of Science is established with main emphasis on education and research in the emerging areas of Science. The saga of science programmes has started in GITAM beginning with UGC funded innovative course, M.Sc. Environmental studies in 1995 to the latest addition of M.Sc. Food Science and Technology in 2008. All the science departments have well developed laboratories spread over about 100,000 sft, with qualified research oriented faculty having published more than 200 research papers in peer reviewed national and international journals during last five years. About 100 research scholars have been pursuing their Ph.D. / M.Phil. degrees in different branches.

Faculty have completed more than twenty five research projects and about ten projects are on hand, funded by UGC, DST, DAE etc. and industry majors like HPCL, Port Trust, Steel Plant etc. Many senior faculty have excellent training in advanced research laboratories in USA, France, Israel, Germany, South Africa, Taiwan etc. The institute has entered into MoUs with State University of New York at Binghamton (SUNY-B) and University of Glasgow to facilitate student and faculty exchange programmes and also with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for joint research projects.

GITAM Institute of Science offers a diversified learning experience characterized by strong faculty-student interaction and heavy emphasis on advanced study. Being the place with a passion for pursuit of knowledge, the institute continues to draw exceptional faculty and students from across the country. At GITAM Institute of Science we offer services and programs that enhance our students’ experiences and provide a supportive and stimulating academic environment. We offer a perfect blend of structure and flexibility that allows our students to develop personally and professionally in an enriching and collaborative environment.

The congenial atmosphere of GITAM University with high faculty retention makes it possible to initiate new emerging specializations such as nano physics, energy studies, nuclear techniques, etc., in order to address the challenging needs of the world. These have an enormous impact in the coming decades and future advances can change approaches to manufacturing, life sciences, electronics, energy demands, IT and communication technology. The students are being trained in these latest fields of study with need based changes in the syllabi of various programmes.

The Institute has 91 well qualified and experienced regular staff members consisting of 15 professors,  22 associate professors and 54 assistant professors.
