The Centre
for Environmental Studies was
established in 1995 in the College of
Engineering, GITAM. The Department of
Environmental Studies was established
in 1995 and is offering the two
courses 1) M.Sc. Environmental
Studies and 2) Bachelor of
Environmental Studies (B.E.M.).
Both the Courses were started with
financial support from University
Grants Commission (U.G.C.), New Delhi
to impart technical skills in the field
of applied Ecology, Environmental
Pollution and Environmental Management.
The courses were recognised by the
Andhra University.
The
Department has an area of 2000 Sq. mts.
The laboratories are equipped with
modern instruments like Atomic
Absorption Spectrophotometer, UV-VIS
Spectrophotometers, Stack Monitoring
equipment, Air monitoring kits, Noise
pollution and Electro magnetic
radiation monitoring kits. The
department has good faculty strength
in different fields of
specialisations .
