Department...
One of the premier Engineering Departments of the GITAM Institute of Technology, the Department of Civil Engineering offers B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D, degree programs. The booming Indian economy facilitates hectic activity in the development of infrastructure, created an enormous demand for civil engineers, which is expected to rise in future. The Civil Engineering Department at GITAM, right from its inception and has consistently produced Civil Engineering graduates of exceptional quality and caliber with 100% placement in reputed organizations, consistently for the past four years. The department aims to provide international Training & Placement, apart from a Scintillating Engineering career–in Civil Engineering. To produce Civil Engineers of global repute by imparting training and insight into vital areas of civil engineering at under graduate Post Graduate level are covered as per the curriculum of the GITAM University. Some of our Faculty members are guiding research scholars.

The Department has experienced and committed Faculty, a life-line of our institution, apart from an excellent Laboratory and Infrastructural facilities.

The Department actively promotes curriculum development activity, in periodical intervals by updating existing courses to meet the current demands, developing innovative courses and preparing resource material for the proposed Distance Learning.

The Department has a number of ongoing sponsored research projects from UGC, DST etc. Some of the important laboratories were established from research grants, alone.

It undertakes industrial consultancy work as a part of its interaction with industry. Nearly 90% of consultancy funds of GIT are being mobilized by faculty of Civil Engg., Dept. In the recent past, our faculty extended technical/consultancy services to various Government /Private organizations, a vital role in the slum removal programs of A.P. State Housing Corporation Ltd in and around the city and replacement with Pucca Houses, Submitted “Detailed Project Reports” to GVMC for accessing JNNURM funds.

The Department organizes Short term training programs, Conferences and Seminars for professional interaction. And also Contributes to the inter-disciplinary academic and research activity of the Institute. The Dept., takes a special attention on student counseling, various student centric activities for the growth and overall personality development of Students for becoming a responsible citizens of this prestigious Nation.

The Department. takes the lead in arranging expert lectures on Stress Management, Psychological Aspects etc apart from Technical Lectures on current Practices, thrust areas in Civil Engg. Survey Camp, Industrial Training (Internship in summer vacations) are made compulsory, personality development classes are made as part of curriculum.

Most of the under graduate project works are related to (Industry-Institute Interaction) industrial problems and with a special emphasis to social relevance. The supreme strength of the department is always the former students, well placed in coveted positions in the country & abroad.
