DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION IN PUBLIC INTEREST

 

COMPLIANCE OF THE DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY IN RESPONSE TO MHRD’S ORDER NO.F.4-30/2009-U.I (A) DATED 17TH JULY, 2009 AND UGC LETTER NO.F.6-1(7)/2006(CPP-I) DATED 7TH AUGUST, 2009 FOR DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION IN PUBLIC INTEREST.

 

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India on the advice of the UGC has declared Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) comprising (1) College of Engineering and (2) College of Science as a “deemed to be university” u/s 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 on 13th August, 2007 (vide MHRD notification No.F.9-37/2006-U.3 dated 13th August, 2007) Subsequently in June, 2008 the MHRD approved the inclusion of (i) College of Management Studies and (ii) College of Pharmacy under the ambit of the University (vide MHRD notification No.F.10-6/2007-U.3 (A) dated 13th June, 2008). Further in December, 2008 the MHRD has accorded permission to the University to start an off-campus centre at Rudraram, outskirts of Hyderabad from the academic year 2009-10 (vide MHRD notification No.F.10-10/2008-U.3 (A) dt. December, 2008).

The Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi on the recommendations of the Joint Committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC has accorded recognition to the University for offering distance learning programmes from the academic year 2009-10 vide letter F.No. DEC/Recog/2009/dt. 09-09-2009. The University is currently offering 13 programmes through distance mode.

The Council of Architecture, New Delhi has accorded approval vide their letter no. CA/5/Academic-AP11 dt. 10th February, 2011 for starting Five year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) programme from the academic year 2011-12 through the GITAM School of Architecture, Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM). Further, The Council of Architecture, New Delhi has also approved the GITAM School of Architecture for conducting the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA).

Ever since it has been accorded the deemed university status, the University has been making relentless efforts in maintaining standards in teaching and research, ensuring proper character building and development among the students, encouraging community development programmes, nurturing leadership in young men and women and imbibing a sense of responsibility to become good citizens, while striving for excellence in all fronts.
