Learner Support Services

Study Material
Comprehensive printed study material, specially designed for self study, shall be provided to every learner. In addition to the study material, the learners are required to read suggested text books, articles published in journals and follow the audio / video CDs, lessons broadcast through Gyanvani in the form of lectures, debates, group discussions, question-answer sessions, etc.
Audio Lessons
The University broadcasts radio lessons through Gyanvani. If, for some reasons or the other, learners are unable to listen to the lessons when they are broadcast, they may listen to the pre recorded audio cassettes available at the study centres.
Video Lessons
To supplement the print material, the University prepares video lessons. Learners are advised to meet the head of the study centre for additional assistance about them.
Library:

Library facility is also provided in the Administrative Building of GITAM Centre for Distance Learning where course-wise textbooks shall be available for the use of learners. The learners will also be permitted to make use of Knowledge Resource Centre (University Central Library) on production of Identity cards. Learners are not permitted to borrow books either from GITAM Centre for Distance Learning Library or Knowledge Resource Centre.

Interface
This facility will be provided at Head Quarters and various Study Centres where the administrative staff, core faculty and resource persons will attend to the requirements of the learners during office hours on all working days.
 
Study Centres:

To provide individualized support to learners, the University has established study centres in identified educational institutions in different parts of the state. The learners can interact with the academic counselors, administrative staff on academic matters at the study centres. They can also make use of the audio-video facilities provided at the study centres. The services provided at the study centres are as follows:
a) Academic counseling for learners – programme-wise.
b) Personal counseling before and after admission to a programme.
c) Library services.
d) Online services in select centres.
e) Distribution of learning material.
f) Conduct of examinations.
g) Dissemination of information relating to admission, results of exams, etc.

Counseling facility may not be available to some programmes at all the study centres. Hence, the learners are advised to make sure that counseling facilities are available for the subject he / she has chosen, at the study centre opted for. Request for change of study centre is normally accepted subject to availability of seat for the programme and availability of required facilities at the new centre asked for.
